Taupo Training Camp 8th-10th July

Want to have a fun weekend away building trail skills and fitness?
Want to know more about fueling, gear and technique?

Taupo Stock2

Then come and join us at our Lake Taupo training camp!  Designed specifically for the Taupo Ultramarathon but suitable for any trail runner looking to up-skill, learn more or just get a solid weekend of training in.

What’s on offer?
-2 breakfast’s on Saturday and Sunday,
-Saturday night’s buffet 2 course dinner,
-An informal Q and A session with a number of specialists involved in trail running (think Physio, gear  specialists, coaches, and a yoga instructor). Between them all they will cover EVERYTHING you want to know  about trail running.
-Trail skill sessions and talks prior to runs.
-Two nights accommodation (single bed in 4 bed bunk rooms)

Friday night: Ready-set-glow!  Get a few trail-skills and night running tips from Kerry before a short jog to test your knowledge and gear.  For many running the longer courses at Taupo moving in the bush at night will be a certainty.  Preparation is key!

Saturday: Breakfast (supplied), trail skill time and then people are encouraged to take part in one of the runs on offer and apply the new skills learned. Lunch, likely ‘on-track’ (self-catered BYO). Post RunYoga session with Sarah Lei of RunYoga. Afternoon of ‘hanging out talking running stuff’ with people. Late afternoon/early evening Q & A session with the trail pro’s in an informal presentation / open forum. Followed by a two course dinner (supplied).

Sunday: Breakfast (supplied), trail skill discussion and then hit the trails for the second day. That afternoon say farewell to all of your new trail running buddies.

Gear required:

  • Headlamp
  • Running clothes, shoes, hydration, fuel, pack etc. Everything that you would normally wear/ take for a long run.
  • BYO bedding
  • Snacks and or Saturday’s lunch.

$225pp Squadrun members
$300pp non Squadrun members

Who is this weekend for? All abilities, SQUADRUN cater for everyone (we dont actually cater though, I’m a terrible cook.  Important I point that out…).

The actual running bit,
Each day there will be two runs on offer.  Assume one ‘slower’ and one ‘faster’ group.  Each group will have an experienced leader or sweep so you wont be left behind or lost.  Again, all abilities are catered for.  We thoroughly enjoy our day with the tail-enders and in all likelihood they are the people that get the best support in terms of ‘time-with-coach’ 🙂
